One of my favorite funny responses that someone can say when I ask “how’s it going?”, or ” how is business?” is some version of “I’m Living the Dream!” Always makes me chuckle, and it sure does make a point. I looked it up in the “urban dictionary” as follows:
Living the dream –An answer to the rhetorical “how’s it going?”. Usually given when someone at work asks how you are and it is quite obvious that you have a crappy job and are just as broke as the next person. Most often used when business is slow.
Dean: Hey Greg, how’s it going? Greg: Living the dream, brother, living the dream.
However, on a serious note, most people are not living their dreams. They are just too scared. Scared of failure, scared of going broke, scared of embarrassment. As time goes by many people simply lose their ability to even have a dream. We probably all have heard the story (the warning) of the old man on his death bed– who was asked what he most regretted in life– and of course it was the things he did not do in life that he wanted to that he regretted most. I urge you to step into living your dreams right now. If you have a dream or a calling that you’re not yet living, it’s time to get to work:
- Publicly declare it. Speak it out load with passion!
- Believe in it– before you see it. “BECOMING”
- And then do it. Take Action. “DOING”
Until you start living it, you’re only dreaming it. LIVE IT!
I found the following list of “31 things that happen when you start living your dream” both useful and interesting. My top ten favorites are: 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, 19, 28. Let me know what your favorites are.
And let me know… “How it’s going?”
